Gelber Announces Key Endorsement from AFSCME
AFSCME noted Gelber's extensive legal experience as the candidate best suited to serve as Florida's AG

Miami Beach, Fla.- The 110,000 members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Florida Council 79 today announced their endorsement of Sen. Dan Gelber's campaign for Attorney General. In their endorsement, AFSCME Florida Council 79 noted Gelber's extensive legal experience as the reason they are backing his campaign to serve as Florida's next Attorney General.

AFSCME Council 79 is the second largest union in Florida with 90 locals representing approximately 110,000 employees of the state, state universities, cities and counties, school boards and private nonprofit hospitals

AFSCME Florida Council 79 joins the South Florida Council of Fire Fighters and Equality Florida in supporting Dan Gelber's campaign for Attorney General.

Dan Gelber was elected to the State House of Representatives in 2000, serving as the House Democratic Leader from 2006-2008; and elected to the State Senate in 2008. Prior to elected life, Dan spent nearly a decade as a top federal prosecutor, working on public corruption, narcotics and civil rights cases, and serving as a top deputy in that office. He was then appointed chief counsel and staff director for the United States Senate's investigations committee where he focused on terrorism and domestic security.

Dan has the support of Democrats like Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, former Congressman Jim Davis, every Democratic State Attorney who has endorsed in this race and 25 current and former state legislators. Dan has been endorsed by AFSCME Florida Council 79, the South Florida Council of Fire Fighters, Equality Florida and many other organizations.
