Broward County Commissioner Kristin Jacobs Endorses Dan Gelber for Attorney General
Sep 2, 2009
Miami Beach, Fla. - Broward County Commissioner Kristin Jacobs today announced her endorsement of Sen. Dan Gelber (D-Miami Beach) as Florida's next Attorney General.
Commissioner Jacobs said, "Dan Gelber is committed to improving the quality of life for everyday Floridians. Dan has been a champion for sensible growth management policy. His background as a long-time federal prosecutor makes him perfectly suited to advocate for consumers against fraud. Most of all, his passion to offer thoughtful and long-term solutions to our state's great challenges is why I am proud to stand with him in his campaign to serve as Florida's next Attorney General."
Sen. Gelber said, "I am thankful to have the full support of Commissioner Jacobs. Kristin has been a champion for the people of Broward County since day one and I look forward to campaigning together to bring much needed change to our state."
Commissioner Kristin Jacobs was elected to represent the people of District 2 on the Broward County Commission in 1998. During her tenure on the County Commission, Kristin Jacobs has served as Broward County Vice-Mayor in 2004 and as Mayor in 2005.
Dan Gelber was elected to the State House of Representatives in 2000, serving as the House Democratic Leader from 2006-2008; and elected to the State Senate in 2008. Prior to elected life, Dan spent nearly a decade as a federal prosecutor, working mostly on public corruption, narcotics and civil rights cases, and serving as a top deputy in that office. He was then appointed chief counsel and staff director for the United States Senate's investigations committee where he focused primarily on terrorism and domestic security. Dan is an AV rated attorney and listed in various peer review publications including Best Lawyers in America and Florida's Legal Elite. He and his wife Joan Silverstein make their home in Miami Beach with their three children. For more information about Dan Gelber, please visit www.dangelber.com.
